The Gullah Laundry

This creatively decorated coin laundry makes washing/drying clothes seem not so dreary. With photos of Scarlett & Rhett and scenes from 'Gone with the Wind' you will know you are truly in the 'Old South.' It also hints of the contribution enslaved blacks made in helping build the wealth and beauty of this long ago peroid. The "Gullah" language/culture began then but is still alive and reflected in numerous ways, most apparently in the exquisite weaving of sweet grass baskets and preparation of 'Gullah' culinary dishes. The Gullah dialect is indigenous to the Sea Islands and is a Creole blend of African & English cadence, words and intonation. The Gullah language & culture celebrates the perseverence and courage of its people.
