Point
South KOA is centrally located in the
coastal South Carolina Low country,
noted for it’s history and antebellum
architecture. Tour the Ribaut
archeological site (era 1562) where
French explorer Jean Ribut secured a
foothold in North America for France.
The nearby town of
Beaufort, South Carolina was founded in
1711 and is the second oldest town in
the state with over ninety homes and
churches predating the Civil War. “The
John M. Verdier house,” Adam style~circa
1790, is open to the public as a house
museum. In 1825 the Marquis de Lafayette
spoke to the citizens of Beaufort from
the portico of the Verdier House. During
the Civil War, the Union forces in
Beaufort used the house as their
headquarters.

charm and history of Charleston, SC. and
Savannah, GA. Brochures are available in
the KOA building. The resort town of
Hilton Head, SC and Charleston &
Savannah are about an hours drive from
Point South KOA campground.
Enjoy the beaches
of the Atlantic Ocean while in Hilton
Head or discover enchanting Hunting
Island, just ten miles east of Beaufort.
Navigate the parks’ tangle of pristine
sub-tropical beauty. A left turn carries
you to the beach and lighthouse while
the road straight ahead leads to the
animal viewing area.
