Meet Your Hosts

The Olendorf/Mason Family

"We treat everyone with respect and strive to deliver a product that pleases our campers and serves their needs.”

Point South KOA has been in the Olendorf/Mason family since 1983.  Decades of ownership has seen a beautiful evolution in the campground and industry.   Bill, Barbara and Jennifer have continued in the tradition of creating a peaceful haven and fun experience throughout the years. “ We treat everyone with respect and strive to deliver a product that pleases our camper and serves their needs.  This drives all we work to accomplish,” says Bill, Barbara and Jennifer.  Before becoming campground owners, Bill spent 20 years in Chicago as a television sales executive and Barbara kept busy as a DC lobbyist, working on political campaigns in Chicago, as well as being a stay at home mom.  Jennifer has worked throughout the decades at Point South KOA, as well as in real estate, while enjoying being a mom of three sons.  “Ready for a change, Bill was particularly interested in working for himself and tired of the winters in the north.”   All loved to camp, so they investigated in the campground field. Seeing Point South KOA in the beautiful Lowcountry of SC, with its mild winters, natural beauty and rich history, sealed the deal.  Enjoyable and unique amenities have been added over the years, including a real L&N Caboose and Charleston Trolley converted into cabins, and lodges designed with Frank Lloyd Wright influence, creating a walk in and walk out experience.  Swimming Mermaid Coffee House features a full line custom roast coffee menu, as well as a wine bar with regional wines. A pizza shop and local on-tap craft beer are also available. Beautiful statuary, gardens and storyboards lend to the glamping experience.  Guests reviews drive the vision, training and budget.  Bill spends his spare time as an amateur radio operator with call sign K4KOA.  Jennifer loves to travel, read and spend time with family and friends.  Barbara 's legacy in her indelible mark in our lives and in Point South KOA will echo in time.
